Hi, I'm Amy

I'm based in Newbury, Berkshire, and I've been practicing photography with a DSLR since I left school - currently over 15 years ago. Prior to that I was always the one taking photos with either my little digital compact camera or my phone, of my dogs and my friends on their ponies - so it's been a hobby of mine for a while!

I do photography part time alongside my job as a nursing assistant in a veterinary practice. Previously, I've worked in a boarding kennels and cattery, and also as a dog groomer, meaning I'm experienced with most breeds and temperaments. I have a broad understanding and interest in dog behaviour, and will happily accommodate nervous or reactive dogs - ensuring sessions are as relaxed as possible to capture your canine companion at their very best.

I've also been a keen equestrian since childhood, and understand how to capture horses in a way that will accentuate their best features.

I take pride in capturing the bond between clients and their animals, and do my utmost to provide high quality images that can be looked back on with fond memories for years to come - especially when these animals have since passed, and memories are all that's left.

Another speciality of mine is the ability to make people feel at ease in front of the camera. It is often an alien concept to most being a model in front of a lens, even when participating with your pet. I will always offer assistance in posing to ensure we can capture images in which you are happy with how you look. Being neurodivergent, I also understand how to accommodate anyone with similar issues and will make sure there is no cause for anxiety, pressure or worry during my sessions.

Due to having chronic health conditions, I do also have to take my own health into account during sessions. This shouldn't impact you as a client, and simply means we may need to pace things (e.g. small breaks and no long distance walking) - this will not take away from your included time allowance, and I will always ensure I've captured the best we can before we end our session.

I do both private and freelance work, meaning as well as taking private clients I also work at canine/equestrian events on behalf of other companies under their name. I have experience in: Showing, Cross Country, Dressage, Show Jumping, and Dog Agility. Due to recent health issues, I am now more limited in my capacity during freelance work. Prior to these issues, I would happily stand in a show jumping arena all day photographing, but nowadays I do have to photograph seated whenever possible and limit my time shooting standing to shorter time periods. This doesn't impact the quality of my work, and usually the only discipline I have to be mindful of booking is show jumping due to having less flexibility of being able to find a spot I can photograph seated.

If you are an event photography company in need of freelancers to cover events, please don't hesitate to contact me with dates and locations so I can check my calendar to see if I am available.
